Why Australia ?
Australia offers quality education at a significantly lower annual tuition fees for many popular courses at universities and institutions. This does not imply that lower education costs translate into lower quality outcomes. On the contrary Australian education has acquired international recognition around the world for its quality.
The living costs in Australia are also cheaper as compared to many other education destinations.
Usually the duration of Bachelor degrees is of three years (exceptions include degrees in Engineering and medicine) as against four years in America. Several MBA programs (especially where no work experience is required) are only of 1.5 years.
Education system in Australia
Australian Government has adopted an integrated nationwide system of qualifications, known as the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF), under which the students can move easily from one level of study to the next and receive credit for previous study. Undergraduate programs vary between 3 to 4 years whereas post-graduate courses are of 2 years duration.
The education systems in India and Australia are very similar as both are broadly structured on the British education system. Therefore, admission into any level without any credential evaluation/university review of qualifications etc is easier. Also, because of flexibility in their education system, students who have completed two years of Bachelors/Diploma could enroll directly into the 2nd or 3rd year of Bachelor's program in Australian institutions.
Admission
Marks obtained in Standard XII exams forms the basis for admission to all undergraduate programs. And marks obtained in under graduate degree forms the basis for post graduate degrees and diplomas. Eligibility conditions for post-graduate admissions: Most of the Australian universities and higher institutes acknowledge the graduation system of three years for entry into most postgraduate courses, while some of the courses and universities may require a qualification equivalent to Australian Bachelor-Honors degree (equivalent to honors graduation degree with 16 years of formal education).
Major intakes are in February and July.
Tests required
For admission into any level of programs including Master's level programs in Sciences, Engineering and Education as well as for visa purpose, IELTS is is the only requirement. Generally, unlike the US, a score in GRE is not required for Master’s program but, some universities prefer applicants with a GRE score. However, for admission into MBA programs, apart from IELTS and relevant work experience of at least 2-3 years, a decent GMAT score and a good academic background is required.
