Why Canada ?
Canada is known for its quality education. Per capita expenditure on education system by Canada is more than any other country in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Student Partnership Program
SPP, Student Partnership Program, is a unique concept, which enable a student to study with 3 years of Work Permit and consequently file for Permanent Residentship.
Canadian Institutes, charge lower tuition fees for international students than their counterparts in US and UK but at the same time, maintain excellent educational quality. However due to lower costs, the admissions are more competitive.
Over the past 9 years, a survey conducted every year by the United Nations has found Canada to be the best place in the world to live. The survey evaluates quality of life in 174 countries, using over 200 performance indicators. Canada earns particularly high marks for its access to education, high life expectancy and low crime rates. Based on living standards and safety Canada remains one of the hottest destinations.
In keeping with the national commitment to education, public education in Canada is free up to and including secondary school (12th Std), in all the provinces. At the post-secondary level, institutions are divided into community colleges and universities. Canadian universities are largely public funded and as a result, are of a consistently high quality, regardless of location or area of study.
In Ontario Bachelor's and Master's, both the degrees are of three-year duration, elsewhere the Undergraduate programs are of 4 years duration, and the post-graduate programs (Master's) are of two years duration.
Admission
Generally, it takes at least one year for the whole admission process to be completed. One must have a very good academic background and TOEFL/IELTS scores as well. However, for the VISA IELTS is essential.
Usually, for admission into M.S./MBA programs, a four-year Bachelor's degree with a minimum of mid-B grades (around 70%) is required. Ph.D. programs generally require five years to complete full-time. A combination of course work, original research and a thesis (which must be defended by oral examination) is required for Ph.D. For those with a three-year degree, admission into PG diploma program is possible with a minimum score of around 240 in TOEFL. Major Intakes are in the months of January and September.
Tests required
GRE is required for admission in Master's, while some Colleges and Universities may require good scores in subject test too. For admission in MBA good score in GMAT is required.
For English Proficiency qualification both TOEFL and IELTS are acceptable and score requirement in these tests vary for different institutes.
